August 2007

Yesterday was a great day as I got to spend it with Tim Coles. Tim came to Haliburton so we could connect and I could show him the space we were given to use at the school this summer. We spent lots of time connecting and I shared of my dreams for this area. Going for lunch was great as we connected with several people there. It truly amazes me how God is working in this community. We are getting lots of great partnerships with individuals and business people.

The exciting part of our day was the faith step for me to increase from 20 hours per week to 40 hours per week on Sept. 15th. I have a newsletter coming out in September so it is perfect timing for a push for additional partners. My need is for $500 in monthly commitments and both Dana and I are confident in God’s provision. He has called us to this ministry and He will supply all we need.

One of the great things planned for the fall is a Harvest Party on October 12th. It is going to be great. A live band is coming as well as old-fashioned square dancing and of course lots of food and games. More information is coming soon. We are getting materials printed in the next week.

Summer is coming to an end and it has been good for me. I have gotten rest and time with my family and time to date with Dana. I got to Mountain Bike lots as well. Nooma has gone over really well and I have had opportunity to challenge and empower many teens. We had 8 come out last Wednesday, so great. Sports nights have served to connect further. It has been great some weeks, and others, only one comes out. So last week, when this happened again, we went for dessert at McKeck’s Patio to chat as the sun set over the lake.

This fall is exciting. I am looking forward to getting back in the school and reconnect with many of the students I have not seen all summer. Our team is also planning some new initiatives and fundraising ideas.

Just returned from a great vacation. Samuel stayed with Gramma and Grampa as Dana and I heading into the interior of Algonquin Park for 4 days This would be our 3rd trip into the same spot on North Tea Lake and then into Manitou Lake. Vacation is a wonderful thing and it was relaxing, even though there were times when I was on verge of getting bored. Don’t get me wrong, I love nature, but I am also an active person who likes to be doing something. Some say that canoe trips are anything but relaxing because of all the work. The pay off is when you reach a site and the only thing around is the open waters and forest. Some sites are closer to each other, so you may see other campers in the distance. Dana and I got to chat lots and spent lots of time reading. I just started a book by Allan Hirssh called The Forgotten Ways. I heard him speak at our National Conference and he has a fresh perspective of church.
