I had opportunity to give an announcement at Haliburton United Church this morning. Today I wanted to be brief as well as concise. I shared about what has been happening in the last few months, about our launch of a youth centre, and the upcoming Harvest Party.
Afterwards, one person came to me intersted in becoming youth centre staff. We chatted for awhile. Another person is interested in helping where he can. And a third person donated for our Silent Auction.
God is so good and he knows all of our needs.

We moving forward with a youth centre with my goal of opening mid-November. Lots to plan and people to recruit and train. This has been on my heart for some time, so when opportunity arose with space given to us, it was time to move. I am putting together a wish list for the centre. Things like new pool cues, Nintendo WII, furninshings, tv’s and a sound system.
The youth centre is a place of contact with youth. It puts myself and the volunteers in proximity to community youth. As relationships emerge, we can focus on meeting needs that arise, and be able to action toward a youth’s world. Lots of opportunity.
We need your help. Please email me if you are interested in becoming a volunteer or may want to partner with us financially. jamie@youthunlimitedkaw.com
So, I’m back at the Adult Education and Training Centre (AETC) and it is going well. There are 4-5 students I connected with lots in the spring, several graduated, and many new faces. One of the areas I am serving the school is facilating the snack program. I wasn’t sure at first, but it is going pretty well. Each week, I meet with 2-3 students, we decide on what we want for snack on Mon and Wed, plan it out, go shopping, and prepare it.
The best part is the interaction I have with the students. It is a great opportunity I have been given. Otherwise, the snack program wouldn’t running this fall.
Hey Everyone,
Great things are happening with myself and Youth Unlimited. We are planning a great Harvest Party that you do not want to miss on October 12th. It is going to be lot of fun. It is held at the West Guilford Community Centre at 7pm. Cost to get in is $25 per family. It will be family friendly. We will be having a live band, square dancing, pinotas, games, and a silent auction. We will also be serving refreshments.
If you are interested, please RSVP by going to www.youthunlimitedkaw.com and selecting harvest party or call 854-0401. Hope to see you there.
Well, today was exciting for me. Not for being my last day at Emmerson Lumber, but my last day of being part time with Youth Unlimited. I have known all along that one day, God would bring me into full time ministry again and all I needed to do was wait on His timing. That timing has come and I am close to having all my support raised. Almost half has come in this week. God is so amazing.
Some great stuff is happening for the fall. I am returning to the Adult Education and Training Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays this year. One of the things I have been asked to help with is their snack program. It is a great way to interact with the students.
It looks like we are one step closer to setting up a youth centre. We have a location now and will be working out the details in the next few weeks. Opportunity for volunteers to be trained will soon begin.
Sorry I havn’t written in awhile. I’ll post again soon.
